Impromptu(即興曲ー愛欲の旋律）

ショパンをヒュー・グラントが演じている「即興曲-愛欲の旋律-」。（うーん、すごい副題だ。これじゃ官能系の映画かと思われちゃうよね）最初ショパンはジョルジュ・サンドを避けているが、誤解が解け恋人になる。その転換部分に使われている曲、モチーフは当然題名にもなっている「即興曲」。

訪ねてきたサンドにこの曲を弾いてみせるショパンとサンドのやり取り。二人の芸術家（音楽と文学と分野は違うが）の芸術に対する考え方の一端を表している。

Chopin: I'm not happy with it.

Sand: Why?

Chopin: Because a perfect impromptu should seem spontaneous and free. No one should be able to guess at all the desperate calculation behind it. And I've been struggling with this for so long. It's like being tangled in a net. I feel...I have terrible dreams at night. Well, I think if I ever finish it, then it will have finished me. You must... suffer tortures to find the perfect word that will make it all seem effortless.

Sand: Me? Suffer for art? You must be joking. I suffer quite enough for life. No, I have never hope to be perfect. I simply pump out pages for money.

Chopin: No, your books are admirable. I've been reading them.
