レクチャーは結構長く、いろんな事を語っていますが、その中からテンポについて少しだけ引用。

One of the most frequent errors I hear in masterclasses is in the F minor Prelude from Book 2. The student will linger over the opening motive which is indeed expressive but then speed up in the next two bars when not so much is happening…(playing the piano) It is important to keep the basic tempo steady and choose one that would suit everything. (playing the piano) There you can help things by bringing out the two different voices, the one …and then the little accompaniment we have… (playing the piano) If there are a lot of ornaments to fit in, this also determines your tempo and provably prevents you from playing too fast. And Finally, perhaps the most important clues to tempo lie in the fact that so much of Bach’s music is related to the dance, but I will talk about that in the next chapter when I consider the whole subject of the dance in Bach.
